We are seeking an experienced and motivated Deputy Chief Medical Officer (DCMO) to join our leadership team. In this pivotal role, you will support the Chief Medical Officer in providing clinical leadership and oversight of the medical workforce, including ancillary services such as Pathology, Radiology and Pharmacy. You will play an active part in contributing to the management of both junior and senior medical staff, ensuring safe, high-quality patient care is consistently delivered.
The Deputy Chief Medical Officer will contribute to day-to-day operational management, workforce engagement and the development of policies and procedures that underpin clinical excellence. You will also play a key role in quality improvement, risk management and fostering a strong culture of safety throughout the organisation. While this role does not hold overall responsibility for medical services, it is central to the effective governance, coordination and support of clinical teams.
Our preferred candidate will have:
Specialist registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
Postgraduate medical qualifications
Experience working in an Australian Hospital environment in managing patients.
Demonstrated clinical leadership and organisational ability
Working knowledge of Medical staff EBAs
Superior interpersonal, consultation, negotiation and communication skills
Understanding of Clinical Risk Management and Clinical Governance concepts and processes
The following experience/qualifications would be considered advantageous:
Previous experience in leading a medical team/department
AFRACMA or FRACMA – or training towards this
IMPORTANT: Some roles in the healthcare sector are required to be vaccinated annually for Influenza (unless a valid exemption applies). Evidence of vaccination (or exemption) will be required prior to commencement.

All employees must hold current entitlement to work within Australia. A six-month probationary period applies to all new appointments.
