
Senior Retail Operations Manager

As a Senior Retail Operations Manager, you will be responsible for leading and developing high-performing teams to drive market share growth through the relentless execution of retail channel standards and strategic priorities. This role has a strong focus on setting and delivering sales targets by developing robust store plans and customer engagement strategies, growing customer relationships by being a trusted business advisor, and building the store specialists' capability to identify and execute sales opportunities that will drive sustainable growth.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate closely with Merchandise to develop and implement state-of-the-art retail strategies integrating store/shopper data and network opportunities.
- Set and monitor Retail Specialist (RS) performance against sales, profit, and network targets while optimizing RS journey planning and call cycles.
- Drive compliance to food safety, retail promotional execution, and outlet excellence, ensuring alignment with operational standards and retail excellence.
- Enhance customer engagement by building trust and advising retailers on industry benchmarks, trends, and best practices.
- Identify process improvements, represent retailer interests to leadership, and manage retail budgets to maximize return on investment.
- Advise on minimum retail ranging, new product launches, and warehouse/charge thru sales opportunities, collaborating with the Merchandise team to optimize and drive sales.
- Build and lead high-performing, growth-driven teams through coaching, capability programs, and fostering a safe, accountable, and empowering work environment.
Required Skills and Qualifications

- Multi-site grocery retail management knowledge and sales experience.
- Building customer relationships, influential partnerships, and networks.
- Strong track record of people leadership - constructive leadership styles, coaching, developing & motivating teams.
- In-depth technical sales knowledge to support retailers to be the best store in their town - customer contact model, structured sales & execution methodology, internal & external compliance requirements.
- In-depth retail grocery market knowledge and understanding of the retail supermarket sector.
- Experience in buying within a retail category and knowledge of growing and supply trends within the industry.
- Strong understanding of retail food compliance and legislative requirements e.g. HACCP, Food Safety, Cold Chain and WHS Legislation.
- Demonstrates strategic thinking and can translate into an execution plan, with a strong track record of closing successful deals and delivering sales targets.
