Job Title: Data Governance Specialist

Data Governance, Principal Analyst Position

We are seeking a highly skilled Data Governance Specialist to join our team on a 2-year fixed term. This role will play a key part in uplifting enterprise data governance for APRA.

This position sits within the Chief Data Office as part of the Data, Technology and Security Division which enables APRA with frameworks, technology and systems that support APRA's data, technology and security operations and its mandate to help protect the Australian community through data enabled decision making.

The successful candidate will be responsible for embedding enhanced enterprise data governance in alignment with APRA's multi-year Data Strategy. They will also define, document and implement data governance strategies, policies, standards and frameworks across data lifecycle activities such as:

  • Defining, documenting and implementing data governance strategies.
  • Providing expert guidance and support on data governance practices.
  • Partnering with cross-functional teams to embed data governance best practices.

To be successful in this role you will need to have proven experience in data governance, data management, data quality, data analysis and data risk management. You will also need to demonstrate initiative and operate as a self-starter, driving tasks and improvements independently.

A strong understanding of data risk management frameworks and APRA prudential requirements is also necessary. Experience in establishing and maintaining strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including senior leadership and business partners to influence and support data governance initiatives is essential.

This role will report directly into the Head of Data Strategy and Governance and will work closely with business stakeholders and project teams to ensure that data governance practices are improved and adhered across all business functions.
