Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Network Engineer to lead the planning, design, and implementation of solutions related to Defence's networks. The role involves adhering to best practices for architecture, security, and performance.

The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, building, and enhancing secure enterprise network and communication platforms, including WAN, LAN, SD-WAN, VPN, wireless, encryption, cross-domain solutions, and hybrid cloud connectivity.

This is a critical role that requires strong knowledge of secure network engineering practices, particularly in Defence or National Security environments. The ideal candidate will have technical leadership in network architecture, performance, and security.

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Extensive experience designing, building, and enhancing secure enterprise network and communication platforms
  • Strong knowledge of secure network engineering practices, particularly in Defence or National Security environments
  • High proficiency in network routing and switching protocols, firewalls, and security platforms
  • A security-first mindset, ensuring compliance with Defence and Government standards to protect networks, systems, and data
  • Experience with Cloud networking designs such as VPC, Subnets, Route tables, Transit Gateway, Route 53, Direct Connect, DNS, VNet, ExpressRoute
  • Excellent documentation skills, including technical documentation, solution design artifacts, baselines, SOPs, training materials, and governance frameworks
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with security, application, data, and infrastructure teams to deliver integrated platform capabilities
Benefits

This position is eligible for an additional remuneration benefit known as the Building Defence Capability Payment (BDCP), which provides a premium on top of the base salary for roles critical to Defence capability.

This is a key position within the Military and Enterprise Systems Divisions of Defence Digital Group (DDG). The successful candidate will join a team of ICT professionals working on complex projects and will have opportunities for technical expertise, mentorship, and coaching within a matrixed environment.
