Nurse Practitioner – Chronic Mental Illness

The Royal Flying Doctor Service of Australia (RFDS) offers a unique opportunity for a Mental Health Nurse Practitioner to join their established and comprehensive Mental Health, Alcohol & other Drug and Wellbeing Team. This role will meet the needs of the Mental Health Nurse in Practice (MHNIP) contract awarded to RFDS by the Western NSW Primary Health Network.
This position will provide a coordinated clinical-care and therapeutic service to clients living with a chronic mental illness in Broken Hill, Dubbo and across Western NSW. MHNIP is a flexible program allowing consumers to receive services where, when and for as long as they need.
Key Responsibilities- Facilitate recovery-oriented services in line with current MHNIP guidelines
- Deliver a mix of therapy and case management in line with client needs
- Work with the team and clients to provide higher levels of clinical assessment, diagnostics and treatment planning ensuring healthcare equity despite geographical remoteness
Mandatory qualifications include:
- Master of Nursing, Nurse Practitioner Mental Health
- Registered with AHPRA as a Nurse Practitioner
- Significant experience or demonstrated understanding working in rural/remote/population health
- Experience working in a cross-cultural environment
- Experience working with rural/remote clients in pastoral settings
- Experience working with families, couples and groups
