Job Title: Brand Strategist

About the Role:

We are seeking a senior brand strategist to lead the development and execution of comprehensive marketing strategies for Sports Direct in Australia and New Zealand.

Craft and execute a full-funnel marketing strategy to launch and grow Sports Direct in ANZ, leveraging your deep knowledge of the ANZ sports landscape.

Key Responsibilities:
  • BUILD THE BRAND FROM THE GROUND UP: Develop and execute a comprehensive marketing strategy to launch and grow Sports Direct in ANZ.
  • LOCAL EXPERTISE: Utilize your expertise of the ANZ sports ecosystem to inform marketing plans, local activations, sponsorships, and community partnerships.
  • CAMPAIGN MAESTRO: Develop and manage the integrated marketing calendar, aligning with retail events, sports seasons, and product launches.
  • DIGITAL INNOVATOR: Utilise AI tools, performance data, and digital insights to optimize campaigns, automate workflows, and improve ROI.
  • COMMUNITY CONNECTOR: Activate local area marketing initiatives that connect stores with their communities, from grassroots events to ambassador programs.
  • CREATIVE LEADER: Oversee the production of on-brand content for use across various channels.
  • LAUNCH STRATEGIST: Lead the go-to-market and grand opening strategies for each new store.
  • TEAM CAPTAIN: Lead a small but high-performing marketing team and collaborate with ecommerce, CRM, Retail, and Merchandise teams.

What You Bring:

  • 8–10+ years of experience in brand, retail, or digital marketing, ideally in sports, lifestyle, or omnichannel retail.
  • A deep understanding of the Australia & New Zealand sports ecosystem, including key sports, leagues, events, and audiences.
  • Proven experience managing end-to-end campaigns across multiple channels.
  • Strong digital marketing skills, with exposure to AI tools, automation, and performance analytics.
  • Strategic thinker with a strong bias for action and delivery.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
