Executive General Manager Opportunity

Calibre Search is currently representing a mid-sized Australian consulting firm seeking an Executive General Manager to lead a portfolio of client groups and projects.

The ideal candidate has experience in Melbourne and desires to join a dynamic, employee-owned, engineering consultancy with more freedom and influence than larger consultancies.

This strategic appointment will join an established and highly capable executive team, reporting to the CEO. The EGM will work closely with fellow EGMs, GMs, COOs, and other stakeholders to achieve business development and project delivery goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring a coordinated approach to business development and pipeline management through collaboration with senior executives.
  • Identifying project delivery workforce requirements and overseeing a portfolio that represents about 25% of the company's workforce.
  • Providing leadership and direction to their group, ensuring excellent collaboration with colleagues.
  • Coordinating engagements and strategic pursuits, utilizing industry networks and market trends to position the firm effectively.
  • Managing commercial pressures and overseeing project risks, with a strong understanding of project delivery and commercial principles.
  • Contributing to internal leadership and guidance across project areas and teams as an active member of the executive team.

Requirements for Success:

  • Developing a deep understanding of relevant markets, clients, and geographies to contribute to the overall business strategy.
  • Bringing leadership skills and industry experience to build on and elevate the firm's position in the industry.
  • Managing monthly operating budgets, profitability, invoicing, and cash collections targets.
  • Driving aggregate views of the project pipeline for specific portfolios, attending weekly national pipeline forums.
  • Achieving project profitability and collaborating with the CFO to manage project cash flow.

Leadership and Teamwork:

As an Executive General Manager, you will be expected to demonstrate exceptional leadership skills, including the ability to motivate and guide your team towards achieving business objectives.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential in this role, as you will be working closely with various stakeholders, including senior executives, managers, and team members.
