Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Indirects Estimator to join our team at Bechtel Corporation. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing Construction/Indirects discipline cost estimating and distributable cost estimates, as well as control activities for project and/or proposal efforts.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of EPC and EPCM estimating methods, processes, and procedures, in addition to estimate types, classifications, and components. They will also possess knowledge of market pricing and pricing sources, as well as construction estimating practices and methods.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Prepare services, distributable, contractor indirect, and/or capital cost estimates in specialized discipline areas using current techniques and market pricing.
  • Provide input on the level of effort required (cost/job hours) through coordination with functions and/or vendors and consolidate input for costing.
  • Perform and review methodology for quantity takeoffs from design drawings for multidiscipline sections and customize forms etc. to reflect best effort.
  • Prepare detail pricing field office non-manual labor/other direct costs (ODC) and home office labor/ODCs.
  • Produce capital cost cost estimates using a crew-based approach including formation of crews from multiple disciplines. Provide detail pricing for manual labor rates.
  • Assist in developing conceptual quantities to supplement partial Design Build design documents.
  • Prepare basis and assumption documentation denoting rationale, inclusions, and exclusions.
  • Develop and perform analysis of project cash models and the corresponding time value of money as the cost of working capital correlating scheduled activities and cost. Generate payment schedules.
  • Support contingency efforts as directed.
  • Assist in developing unit staffing, job hour, and pricing data for a specific discipline or other specialty, including estimating parameters, factors, indices, and craft distribution reference data, etc., based on analysis of Bechtel and industry experience. Perform data analysis, identify problems, and make recommendations. Identify or define data sources and techniques for data acquisition.
  • Prepare reports and estimate summaries for estimate reviews, as directed by supervisor. Participate in estimate reviews and presentations, as appropriate.

Overall:

  • Prepare estimate basis and assumption documentation for their area of responsibility in support of overall estimate development.
  • Support complex order of magnitude (OOM) estimates.
  • Prepare cost studies, trend estimates, and life cycle cost estimates in specialized areas or in specialized discipline areas.
  • Identify risk items and assign risk levels to portions of the project work and identify measures to mitigate risk in area of responsibility.
  • Interface with designated management personnel on specific sections of estimate presentations.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 8-10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience.
  • Demonstrated intermediate understanding of CSA and Indirect Estimating core processes requiring minimal direction and supervision.
  • Excellent applied analytical and quantitative skills. Effective in utilizing metrics to provide reasonableness checks.
  • Basic knowledge of financial report systems, Controller account codes, and understanding of Controller Instructions that impact estimates.
  • Proficiency in basic Microsoft software applications currently being used by Bechtel (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint). Knowledge of scheduling software used by Bechtel (Primavera, Microsoft Project). Proficiency in estimating applications used for discipline estimates.
  • Skilled in oral and written communication with basic presentation skills.

Estimated Salary:$85,000 - $120,000 per annum
