Youthworks leads the way in professional Christian Outdoor Education, utilizing outdoor learning experiences to bring together bible-based discipleship and outdoor education in a unique and powerful way.

The team comprises talented individuals who love Jesus, seek adventure in the outdoors, and believe that not all lessons are best taught in the classroom. They are just as passionate about Christian ministry to young people as they are about adventurous experiences in God's creation.

Job Description:

This role facilitates and assists in the holistic development (physical, social, emotional, mind, and spiritual growth) of Christian Outdoor Education program participants. You will provide instructional leadership that enables participants to learn through active engagement in a direct and guided experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and lead biblically sound and age-appropriate Christian talks
  • Lead and instruct a range of activities within the outdoor education program
  • Prepare and deliver activity briefs, de-briefs, and teaching sessions
  • Assist in the day-to-day running of Youthworks' outdoor education programs
  • Conduct evening activities, overnight expeditions, and weekend activities as required
  • Assist in the training and evaluating of Christian Outdoor Education staff in relation to non-Certificate III activities

Requirements:

  • Qualified in Outdoor Recreation (Certificate IV skill set or higher)
  • Qualified (current) in Wilderness First Aid and Water Rescue
  • Qualifications (current) in Remote or Wilderness First Aid
  • Experience in leading best practice outdoor programs
  • Ability to infuse the Christian ethos into teaching practice
  • Experience in preparing, presenting, and facilitating biblically sound talks and studies
  • Experience working with children, teenagers, and diverse groups
  • Demonstrated leadership ability
  • Experience in a mentoring capacity

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Theology qualifications or currently studying theology
  • Light Rigid Licence

A current driver's licence and own transport are essential due to the location.
