  • Conduct first-principles estimating to meet high-quality standards and deadlines.
  • Engage with subcontractors and suppliers for tender negotiations and coordination.
  • Manage the bid process, ensuring tenders are presented effectively.
  • Collaborate with team members, subcontractors, and suppliers to identify opportunities for added value.
  • Provide insights and advice on practical construction methods, including project methodologies and scheduling.
  • Assess risks and opportunities to refine and improve estimates.
  • Participate in pre- and post-tender negotiations to secure favorable outcomes.
  • Utilize problem-solving skills to overcome challenges and improve processes.
  • Build and maintain relationships within the industry to stay updated on market trends, pricing, and new entrants.

The job entails conducting first-principles estimating, engaging with subcontractors and suppliers, managing the bid process, collaborating with team members, providing insights and advice, assessing risks and opportunities, participating in negotiations, utilizing problem-solving skills, and building and maintaining relationships within the industry.

Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Tertiary qualifications in Civil Engineering or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of civil estimating experience, particularly in Southeast Queensland.
  • Expertise in first-principles estimating, especially for earthworks.
  • Proficiency in using Pronamics Expert Estimation software.
  • Ability to develop innovative solutions.
  • Strong team player commitment.
  • Advanced skills in planning, reporting, and analysis.
  • Expertise in relationship management, conflict resolution, and problem-solving.
