Job Title: Senior Estimator

Role Overview

This pivotal role is part of a contractor company, supporting growth and success. As a Senior Estimator, you will prepare comprehensive tenders that meet high standards and deadlines.

You will collaborate with an experienced support team to target civil projects throughout Southeast Queensland.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct first-principles estimating for high-quality standards and deadlines
  • Negotiate with subcontractors and suppliers for tender coordination
  • Manage the bid process for effective tender presentation
  • Collaborate with team members, subcontractors, and suppliers to identify added value opportunities
  • Provide insights on practical construction methods, including project methodologies and scheduling
  • Risk assess and refine estimates to improve outcomes
  • Participate in pre- and post-tender negotiations to secure favorable outcomes
  • Apply problem-solving skills to overcome challenges and improve processes
  • Maintain industry relationships to stay updated on market trends and new entrants

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Civil Engineering or a related field
  • At least 5 years of civil estimating experience, particularly in Southeast Queensland
  • Expertise in first-principles estimating, especially for earthworks
  • Proficiency in using Pronamics Expert Estimation software
  • Able to develop innovative solutions to outperform competitors
  • Strong team player committed to achieving corporate and client goals
  • Advanced skills in planning, reporting, and analysis
  • Expertise in relationship management, conflict resolution, and problem-solving

Project Examples:

  • Civil works including cut-to-fill, stormwater, and detailed earthworks valued at $10M
  • External civil works and car parks (TMR specifications), approx $9M
