About the Role

The Work Health and Safety (WHS) Officer will play a critical role in ensuring the health, safety, and wellbeing of Defence Australia's personnel and stakeholders. This position will be responsible for delivering and improving the WHS Management Plan, engaging with industry and capability partners, and contributing to the development of the ASCISPO Engineering and Technical (E&T) and Safety Management Systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement WHS policies and procedures to ensure compliance with legislative frameworks and Defence Australia's policies.
  • Provide WHS advice and guidance to stakeholders, including the ASCISPO APS and military workforce.
  • Conduct risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Collaborate with the WHS Advisor to develop and implement WHS training programs.
  • Monitor and report on WHS performance metrics and provide recommendations for improvement.
Requirements
  • Knowledge and experience in WHS legislative frameworks and policies.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build and sustain productive relationships with stakeholders.
  • Ability to work autonomously and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
  • Experience in leading and motivating small teams to achieve WHS objectives.
