Safety and Compliance Specialist

The Role:
Ventia is seeking an experienced Safety and Compliance Specialist to join our Defence contract. This role will be responsible for implementing, monitoring, and governing SHEQ programs, systems, and processes for the contract. This is a key interface between the SHEQ Manager and operational delivery. The role is a 12-month fixed term position based at Keswick Barracks.
Must be eligible to hold a Defence Security Clearance.
As a result of this requirement, the applicant must be an Australian Citizen.
The responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to:

  • Review contractor project documentation
  • Work with Ventia project officers to ensure that construction works adhere to safety requirements
  • Conduct field inspections and complete audits on contractor works and management systems
  • Adhere to legislations, regulations, and standards and that all activities on the project are undertaken in a safe manner, and with the application of suitable frameworks and documentation
  • Investigate safety-related incidents or issues and provide recommendations through the contract leadership team. Engage with Ventia SHEQ as appropriate.
  • Maintain risk assessments and risk registers, and manage all records in accordance with Company requirements

Key Requirements:

  • Formal training in incident investigation ICAM methodology
  • Construction Induction card

Technical Competencies:

  • Experience as a safety professional in construction safety and possess the required technical skills and knowledge to perform the role
  • Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships and a positive team culture
