About the Role

The organisation is seeking a skilled Foster & Kinship Care Practitioner to join its team in the North Coast region. This permanent full-time position will provide an opportunity for a dedicated professional to make a positive impact in the lives of children and young people in care.

 

Key Responsibilities
  • Support and mentor children and young people in out-of-home care, promoting their physical, emotional, and psychological well-being.
  • Collaborate with carers and other stakeholders to develop and implement strategies that address the complex needs of children and young people in care.
  • Conduct assessments and evaluations to inform decision-making and ensure the best possible outcomes for children and young people in care.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with children, young people, carers, and other professionals to promote a supportive and inclusive environment.
  • Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge in foster care practice.

 

Required Qualifications and Skills
  • A tertiary qualification in social work, human services, or a related field; or relevant diploma with substantial experience in a similar role.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of child development, trauma, and emotional and behavioral issues affecting children and young people in care.
  • Experience in supporting and mentoring children and young people in out-of-home care, with a focus on promoting positive relationships and outcomes.
  • Ability to analyze, evaluate, and articulate recommendations for carer assessments within a structured framework.
  • Current vaccination against whooping cough or willingness to obtain prior to commencement, unless applicable exemption provided.
  • Valid Queensland Provisional Green or above Driver's License.
  • Working with Children Check (Blue Card) and Police Check clearance, as required by legislation.
