Assistant Advisor Role

This is an ongoing Clerk Grade 5/6 role where you will support Cabinet and Committee operations, reviewing proposals, providing advice, and working with internal and external stakeholders.

The Assistant Advisor supports the coordination of Cabinet and Committee meetings, agendas, and submissions. You will review Cabinet proposals, provide advice on Cabinet practice, and work with internal and external stakeholders to facilitate smooth decision-making.

Key responsibilities include supporting senior executives, Ministers, and the Premier with analysis and advice, and contributing to the integrity and efficiency of Cabinet processes.

You will also take care of administrative tasks and help manage the eCabinet IT system.

The role requires a high level of organisational skills and experience managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment with agility and resilience.

Excellent communication skills, including maintaining working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, are essential for this position.

The ideal candidate will have a proven ability to analyse and synthesise information and provide clear and considered advice to management and senior executives within tight deadlines.

Skilled in using technology to deliver good outcomes, including using IT systems for document management, the successful applicant will be comfortable adapting to new technologies.

Key Skills and Qualifications
  • Understanding or experience of government operations, including Cabinet conventions and confidentiality requirements.
  • Excellent communication skills, including maintaining working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong organisational skills and experience managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment with agility and resilience.
