Job Title:

Structural Design Specialist

Description:

This position is responsible for assisting in the production of drawings, specifications, and calculations during a project's design phase life cycle from conceptual design to construction documents.

The successful candidate will assist in the completion of construction administration tasks, such as reviewing shop drawings and submittals, responding to RFIs, and site visits.

They will develop structural designs and analytical models for various building types and materials, review and revise designs based on feedback from senior designers and project stakeholders, perform calculations and analyses to ensure structural integrity and compliance with building codes and regulations.

Utilizing CAD software, including Tekla Structures, the Structural Design Specialist will create 2D drawings and 3D models.

Collaboration with engineers, modelers, and detailers is required to meet project deadlines and deliver high-quality design solutions.

Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of structural engineering principles, codes, and standards.
  • Familiarity with structural design and analysis, materials, and construction practices.
  • Critical-thinking and troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Able to convey complex technical information clearly and concisely.
  • Organizational skills and ability to manage project tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Attention to detail and awareness of how one's work fits into the overall design.
  • Team orientation and collaboration and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Adaptability to changing project plans and unexpected challenges.
  • Proficiency in CAD software and related tools used in structural engineering.
