We are seeking an experienced Policy Manager to join our team at The State of Queensland. As a key member of our Hydrogen and Future Fuels division, you will play a critical role in leading our policy initiatives and developing strategies to support the growth of a Queensland hydrogen industry.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and manage the provision of high-level, expert advice to senior management on complex policy issues related to hydrogen and future fuels.
- Conduct and coordinate substantial research, analysis, and review of policy and regulatory issues affecting the hydrogen industry in Queensland.
- Develop and implement policy initiatives that support the development of a Queensland hydrogen industry, in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
- Prepare and oversee the preparation of complex reports, submissions, briefing notes, legislation, presentations, speeches, publications, and correspondence for consideration by senior management and executive management.
- Exercise judgment, authority, and high-level influence to effectively coordinate the management of divisional requirements and competing team priorities.
- Build relationships, liaise, consult, and negotiate with colleagues, government agencies, industry stakeholders, and other levels of government to achieve policy outcomes and deliver on government commitments.
- Ensure a culture of service delivery and high performance that recognizes the unique contribution of the individual, encourages personal and team development, and promotes an appropriate work-life balance.
- Manage, mentor, coach, and train staff in their development to ensure the necessary skills and motivation exist to respond to service delivery requirements and perform to a high level of skill and expertise.
- Experience working in complex and sensitive strategic policy and legislative development environments to deliver key portfolio outcomes.
- Experience in establishing relationships and coordinating with key internal and external stakeholders to deliver on broader organisational commitments.
- Ability to provide leadership to the team to evaluate options, develop appropriate plans, and mitigate risk.
