About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Services Technician to join our Engineering and Services division on Hamilton Island. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for the installation, commissioning, maintenance, and repair of our electrical distribution network.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform maintenance and repairs on High Voltage (HV) and Low Voltage (LV) electrical networks, including our 12-Megawatt Diesel Generation Plant.
  • Test and repair airport runway lighting to ensure smooth landings.
  • Conduct audits on new installations to ensure compliance with safety standards.
  • Prioritize urgent repairs to ensure guest safety and satisfaction.
  • Participate in an on-call roster rotation to address out-of-hours breakdowns as required.
  • Perform maintenance and repairs on hazardous area equipment, including the island's fuel systems.
  • Ensure the upkeep and maintenance of our water and sewerage plants.
  • Read and test the island's electrical usage meters.

About You

  • Extensive experience in electrical distribution networks, SCADA, and PLC systems.
  • An Electrical Fitter Mechanic Trades Certificate.
  • A minimum of 5 years' full-time trade experience.
  • High voltage switching and coordination experience and/or qualifications/accreditation - 22/11KV.
  • A QLD open/unrestricted driver's license.
  • Ability to be approved for and hold an Aviation Security Identification Card (ASIC).
  • Previous experience with electrical instrumentation systems ideally associated with water and sewerage systems.
  • High voltage polymeric cable jointing experience.
  • Previous experience with diesel-powered generators.
  • Electrical Equipment in Hazardous Areas (EEHA) qualifications/accreditation.
  • Airfield Lighting basic.
  • Experience within the Tourism/Resort industry.
  • Willingness to participate in an on-call roster to attend out-of-hours breakdowns as required.
