Role Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Underground Mobile Equipment Technician to join our African operations. This is an excellent opportunity for experienced professionals to share their knowledge, develop local workers' skills, and contribute to the growth of our business.


The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring scheduled servicing of mobile equipment in a safe and efficient manner, while adhering to procedures and regulations. They will also be required to mentor and coach national trades personnel, minimizing downtime on machinery, and maintaining accurate records of maintenance activities.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Carry out regular servicing and repairs of underground mobile equipment in accordance with industry standards and company procedures.
  • Develop and implement effective training programs for less qualified tradespeople, promoting high productivity and efficiency in a fast-paced underground contracting environment.
  • Maintain a high level of housekeeping in workshops and working areas, ensuring a safe and organized work environment.
  • Read and interpret technical manuals and documentation, identifying and resolving complex equipment issues.
  • Provide detailed reports on equipment faults, maintenance activities, and other relevant information to support informed decision-making.

Essential Requirements:
  • Proven experience working with latest generation SANDVIK, CAT, and Atlas underground mobile equipment, as well as associated automation systems.
  • At least 5 years of post-apprenticeship experience in the underground mining industry, with a strong background in troubleshooting electric hydraulic drilling equipment.
  • Excellent knowledge of loader and truck maintenance, auto electrics, hydraulic circuit schematics, and diesel engine maintenance.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with colleagues from diverse cultural backgrounds.
  • International Driver's License, with the ability to adapt to new and challenging environments.
