Job Overview

A skilled tradesperson with expertise in laying bricks and blocks is required to construct residential and commercial buildings. The successful candidate will read and interpret technical specifications and construction design plans.

This role involves hands-on work, using various hand tools and machines to cut, shape and lay bricks, as well as mixing mortars and repairing brick constructions.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of building codes, safety protocols and quality control measures.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Laying bricks and blocks to build houses and buildings as per the design plan.
  • Mixing mortars and repairing brick constructions.
  • Using various hand tools and machines to cut, shape and lay bricks.
  • Sealing foundations and waterproof materials.
  • Reading and interpreting technical specifications and applying construction design plans.
  • Reviewing building plans and specifications to determine materials required, dimensions and installation procedures.
  • Calculating & cutting angles and determining the vertical and horizontal alignment of courses using different tools.
  • Erecting and dismantling scaffolding.
  • Identifying materials and calculating dimensions required for installation as required.
  • Making a list of needed materials and tools required for the following day.
  • Mixing a variety of mortars.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • Certificate IV level qualification in Civil Construction or Bricklaying.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in bricklaying.
  • Ability to work both unsupervised and in a team.
  • To be energetic and motivated.
