National HR Manager

Job Description:

This is a pivotal role that oversees the strategic direction and operational delivery of HR services across a multi-site organisation. The successful candidate will lead a team of HR professionals, partner with senior leadership and operational staff to ensure HR outcomes align with business needs.

The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of industrial relations, EBAs, and union engagement, along with excellent written and verbal communication skills. They will be a practical, people-centred, and resilient leader who can balance strategy and hands-on delivery.

This is an executive-level position reporting directly to the CEO, offering an outstanding opportunity for a people-focused HR leader to advance their career while making a tangible impact.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Providing strategic leadership and oversight of the HR function
  • Partnering with the CEO, Board, and Executive Team to implement people strategies that drive organisational success
  • Leading, coaching, and supporting HR team members and frontline leaders to build capability and accountability
  • Managing enterprise bargaining agreement (EBA) negotiations and fostering positive union relationships
  • Ensuring compliance with workplace legislation, industrial relations frameworks, and safety standards
  • Overseeing recruitment, retention, professional development, and talent management strategies
  • Maintaining and enhancing HR systems and updating policies and procedures in line with legislation
  • Preparing and presenting detailed board-level reports and strategic analysis
  • Promoting a culture of safety, professionalism, and respect across the business

Skill Requirements:

  • Diploma, degree, or MBA in Human Resources, Industrial Relations, or a related discipline
  • 5–10 years' HR experience, ideally with leadership exposure; the role may suit an experienced HR Advisor or Manager ready to step up into a national leadership role
  • Strong knowledge of industrial relations, EBAs, and union engagement
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, with strong reporting and board presentation skills
  • Practical, people-centred, and resilient leader with the ability to balance strategy and hands-on delivery
