Overview

Tablelands Regional Council, QLD is seeking an experienced Strategic Communications Advisor. Permanent Full-Time | $95,552.46 + 12% super | Flexible work arrangements. Public Sector People is partnering with Tablelands Regional Council (TRC) to recruit an experienced Strategic Communications Advisor to shape and deliver communication strategies that enhance TRC's reputation, strengthen community engagement, and support organisational priorities.

The Role

In this pivotal role, you'll shape and deliver Council's strategic communications. You'll support the development and implementation of campaigns and initiatives that align with organisational priorities, ensuring consistent and impactful messaging. Working closely with internal stakeholders, you'll design and deliver targeted campaigns, manage media relations, and take responsibility for Council's digital presence — including oversight of the website and social media platforms.

Key Areas Of Focus
  • Driving integrated communication and engagement strategies.
  • Providing informed strategic advice and practical support to strengthen TRC's communications and community profile.
  • Enhancing visibility through targeted media campaigns and proactive media engagement.
  • Monitoring digital performance and adapting strategies to meet community expectations.
  • Supporting community events, key initiatives, and crisis communication when required.
About You

We're looking for a highly motivated communications professional with:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Communications, Journalism, or related field (or significant experience).
  • Strong expertise in strategic communication, stakeholder engagement, and media relations.
  • Proven ability to deliver impactful messaging across digital and traditional platforms.
  • The ability to manage communication challenges in high-pressure situations.

Local Government experience is desirable but not essential.
