Job Description:

As a highly skilled and experienced lawyer, you will play a critical role in providing strategic and legal policy advice on complex issues related to the functions and powers of our organization. You will conduct legal and related research into complex matters relevant to our responsibilities under relevant legislation. Your expertise will be instrumental in assisting with the conduct of investigations and court proceedings, including working closely with external lawyers.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide legal (including strategic and legal policy) advice on complex issues relating to the functions and powers of our organization.
  • Conduct legal and related research into complex matters relevant to our responsibilities under relevant legislation.
  • Assist with the conduct of investigations and court proceedings for our organization, including working closely with external lawyers.
Required Skills and Qualifications:

To succeed in this role, you will require:

  • Admission as a practitioner, however described, of the High Court or the Supreme Court of an Australian State or Territory.
  • Experience in working effectively as a lawyer advising and guiding line areas under very tight timeframes.
  • Experience advising in relation to Part IV of the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 —particularly in respect of merger clearances and competition exemptions—or administrative law would be an advantage but is not essential.
