About the Role

The Club Development Lead is responsible for providing strategic support and guidance to Regional AFL Leagues and affiliated clubs in NSW/ACT, ensuring they have a strong foundation for governance, connectivity, structure, and financial sustainability.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Governance Support
    • Develop and implement initiatives to promote good governance practices among clubs, minimizing volunteer strain and promoting sustainable growth.
  • Club Experience and Retention
    • Design and deliver best practice programs to enhance club experiences and improve retention rates.
  • AFL Canberra Premier Clubs Minimum Standards Criteria
    • Implement and support programs to strengthen and grow the Premier competition, ensuring clubs meet and exceed minimum standards criteria.
  • Regional Plan Development
    • Work with Regional Participation Managers and Competition Managers to develop and implement regional plans that maximize participant movement and retention through Club Auskick/Superkick, Junior, Youth, and Senior Football.
  • Resource Allocation
    • Engage with functional leads across coaching, umpiring, and W&G, connecting resources to support clubs and promote self-sufficiency.
  • At-Risk Club Support
    • Identify and develop action plans for 'at-risk' clubs in the region, promoting their capacity and resilience.
