Veterinary Oncology Specialist

About the Opportunity
This is a full-time position that offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience with a dedicated oncology department. The intern would work directly with experienced veterinary oncologists, an oncology registrar, and a team of skilled veterinary nurses. The internship provides exposure to a wide variety of oncological cases and treatment modalities, including electrochemotherapy and radiation therapy.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assessment of patients for medical and radiation therapy, daily rounds presentation, treatment discussion and decision making.
- Assistance in the safe administration of chemotherapy.
- Support for oncology patients through various departments such as diagnostic imaging, surgery, and emergency.
- Participation in continuing education sessions and rounds, including inter-departmental journal club and rounds.
- Assistance in the training of rotating interns and veterinary students.
Requirements:
- Qualified veterinarian with registration in the relevant jurisdiction.
- MANZCVS in Small Animal Medicine or current preparation would be preferred but not essential.
- Sound knowledge base in small animal medicine with a strong interest in veterinary oncology.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with a commitment to providing high-quality care.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and work well under pressure.
