
Trauma-Informed Therapist for Domestic and Family Violence Support

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Therapeutic Practitioner to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing trauma-informed therapeutic interventions and counselling to children and young people affected by domestic and family violence.
The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counselling, or a related field, and experience working with children and young people in a therapeutic context. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential, as is the ability to work collaboratively with other services to reduce the impact of family violence across the region.
About the Role
- Deliver trauma-informed counselling and group work interventions
- Support carers of child witnesses through advocacy and information sharing
- Engage in safety planning and crisis response as part of an integrated DFV model
- Coordinate with police and other services through embedded response work
- Facilitate community education and stakeholder engagement in the region
- Maintain accurate client records, reports, and data entries
- Provide occasional leave relief across Cairns, Atherton, Mossman, and court settings
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counselling, or a related field
- Experience working with children and young people in a therapeutic context
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with other services
- Cultural sensitivity and emotional intelligence
