We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our team as a Patternmaker Apprenticeship at McKechnie Iron Foundry in Gepps Cross SA.

This apprenticeship offers the perfect opportunity to learn an in-demand trade while working with experienced professionals. You will be responsible for constructing full-size engineering models (patterns) out of various materials, including timber, cast resin, and rigid foam. With a focus on precision and quality, you will work closely with our team to ensure that every model meets the highest standards.

The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in mathematics and be able to apply their skills in a practical setting. You will also need to possess excellent communication skills and be able to work effectively in a team environment. As a Patternmaker Apprentice, you will have the opportunity to gain valuable experience and develop your skills in a supportive and dynamic team.

About the Role:

  • Constructing patterns: You will use various materials and techniques to create intricate patterns that meet specific design requirements.
  • Lamination process: You will glue sections together during the lamination process, ensuring accurate alignment and precise fit.
  • Computer-controlled machines: You will operate computer-controlled machines to produce high-quality patterns with precision and accuracy.
  • Problem-solving: You will identify and troubleshoot issues related to pattern construction, ensuring timely completion and meeting quality standards.

About You:

  • You must be an Australian citizen or permanent resident with the right to work in Australia.
  • You should have completed Year 10 High School and possess a strong foundation in mathematics.
  • You will need a valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • You should demonstrate good attention to detail and math skills.
