Independent Chair of Banking Code Compliance Committee Job Description

The Independent Chair will lead the Banking Code Compliance Committee (BCCC) in fulfilling its responsibilities under the Code and Charter.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the BCCC in setting the agenda and presiding over meetings.
  • Facilitate productive, focused, and orderly discussions and decision-making, ensuring all members can contribute and be heard.
  • Represent the BCCC externally at industry events, conferences, stakeholder meetings, or in the media.
  • Act as the principal point of contact for stakeholders, including regulators and the Australian Financial Complaints Authority.
Requirements:
  • Relevant experience and demonstrated success in senior leadership roles, particularly in governance, regulatory, or compliance-focused positions.
  • Proven track record of leading boards, committees, or similar governance bodies, with an emphasis on independent oversight and ethical decision-making.
  • Extensive experience engaging and managing relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Knowledge and experience of financial services markets, particularly banking, would be desirable.
