Senior Waste Policy Officer Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Waste Policy Officer to join our team. The successful candidate will have a strong background in waste management and policy development, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

About the Role:

  • To assist in the implementation of the Waste and Resource Recovery Act 2022.
  • To contribute to policy development to facilitate waste industry reform and landfill levy implementation.
  • To liaise and provide advice to stakeholders and the community.
  • To conduct work on waste management and resource recovery sites throughout the state.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and implement policies and strategies to improve waste management and reduce waste to landfill.
  2. Contribute to the development of waste management plans and strategies for local government areas and other stakeholders.
  3. Liaise with stakeholders, including government agencies, industry groups and community organizations.
  4. Provide technical advice and support to stakeholders on waste management and policy issues.

Requirements:

  • A Degree in Science, Engineering, Sustainability or Business, or an equivalent qualification from a recognized tertiary institution.
  • A current motor vehicle driver's licence.

Working Arrangements:

  • This is a permanent position based in Hobart, Launceston or Devonport (to be negotiated).
