Job Role

The position of Deputy Head of Department Dietitian plays a pivotal role in the multidisciplinary healthcare team, leading the delivery of quality dietetic services to patients/clients of the region.

This involves:

  • Leading a team of dietitians to provide high-quality dietetic services that cater to the health and wellbeing needs of patients/clients.
  • Collaborating with other healthcare professionals to develop and implement evidence-based practice.
  • Providing clinical leadership and expertise in dietetics to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
  • Maintaining relationships with stakeholders to promote the department's work.

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A tertiary qualification in Nutrition and Dietetics and eligibility for membership of Dietitians Australia (DA).
  • Extensive knowledge, clinical proficiency, and ability to work collaboratively, lead a multidisciplinary team, and take leadership in clinical and operational decision-making.
  • Ability to prioritise and organise dietetics caseloads across a small regional team.
  • Demonstrated commitment to quality improvement and implementing evidence-based practice.
  • Demonstrated experience in participating in clinical research and knowledge of the research process.
Key Requirements
  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Nutrition and Dietetics and current membership of Dietitians Australia (DA).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead and manage a team.
  • Experience in clinical leadership and management, focusing on improving patient outcomes.
