About the Job

As a Smelter Operator, your primary responsibility will be to ensure the safe and efficient operation of our smelting processes. This involves monitoring equipment, performing routine tasks, and working collaboratively with engineers, tradespeople, and other teams to achieve our goals.

Some of your key duties will include:

  • Conducting daily toolbox meetings with your team to discuss safety protocols and priorities.

  • Monitoring processes to prevent safety hazards and optimize equipment performance.

  • Performing tasks involving computerized, electronic, and remote-controlled equipment, manual handling, machinery operation, and working in hot environments.

  • Collaborating with engineers, tradespeople, and contractors to identify and implement safety improvements and efficiencies.

  • Participating in workplace programs focused on health and safety, wellness, inclusion, and volunteering.

You will receive comprehensive training and support from experienced operators to help you develop your skills and knowledge.

Requirements

  • Physical fitness and ability to work in a practical, hands-on environment.

  • High-risk work licence (forklift and crane) preferred but not essential.

  • Flexibility to work rotating 12-hour shifts.

  • Current driver's licence.

  • Well-developed problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills.

  • High level of self-sufficiency and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
