About the Role

The Department of Education QLD is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Deputy Principal to lead the development of school-to-employment pathways in remote Indigenous communities. This is a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the education and career prospects of students in these communities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop a comprehensive plan for school-to-employment pathways in each of the discrete communities.
  • Actively promote and source Vocational Education and Training (VET) providers to deliver programs in the discrete communities.
  • Develop Senior Secondary systems to ensure compliance with the Queensland Curriculum and Assessment Authority (QCAA) and VET programs.
  • Establish Work Experience Systems for each of the schools.
  • Ensure QCAA compliance for Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE) and Queensland Certificate of Individual Achievement (QCIA).
  • Provide VET in schools to ensure successful delivery of programs that meet VET standards.
  • Provide Senior Secondary technical expertise to Principals, Deputy Principals, and Heads of Department in each of the schools.
  • Develop links and partnerships with industry groups and organizations to support school-to-work transitions.
  • Develop links with external schools, including Western Cape College, to assist in the delivery of Senior Secondary programs.
  • Establish effective tracking systems, including Case and Complex Case Management.
Requirements

The successful candidate will have a strong background in education leadership, with experience in developing and implementing education programs in remote Indigenous communities. They will also have a deep understanding of the Queensland education system and the ability to work effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
