The Department of Education QLD is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Deputy Principal to lead the development of school to employment pathways in remote Indigenous communities. This is a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the education and career prospects of students in these communities.
Key Responsibilities- Develop a comprehensive plan for school to employment pathways in each of the discrete communities.
- Actively promote and source Vocational Education and Training (VET) providers to deliver programs in the discrete communities.
- Develop Senior Secondary systems to enable compliance with the Queensland Curriculum and Assessment Authority (QCAA) and VET programs.
- Implement Work Experience Systems for each of the schools.
- Ensure QCAA compliance for Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE) and Queensland Certificate of Individual Achievement (QCIA).
- Provide Senior Secondary technical expertise to the Principal and Deputy Principal and Head of Department (Secondary) in each of the schools.
- Develop links and partnerships with industry groups and organizations for school to work transitions.
- Develop links with external schools, including Western Cape College, to assist in the delivery of Senior Secondary programs.
- Develop effective tracking systems, including Case and Complex Case Management.
The Deputy Principal will be based at Western Cape College, Weipa Campus, and will work across three remote Indigenous schools: Kowanyama State School, Aurukun State School, and Lockhart State School. These schools cater for students from Pre-Prep to Year 12 and provide a diverse education while maintaining cultural roots.
RequirementsTo be successful in this role, you will need to have:
- Strong leadership and management skills.
- Experience in developing and implementing education programs in remote Indigenous communities.
- Knowledge of VET programs and QCAA compliance.
- Ability to develop effective partnerships with industry groups and organizations.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
