Job Title: Experienced Youth Worker

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Youth Worker to provide culturally responsive care and support to Aboriginal children in out-of-home care. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing day-to-day care, supervision, and emotional support to Aboriginal children.

The ideal candidate will have experience working with children with complex behaviours, trauma backgrounds, and high needs. They will possess resilience, patience, and the ability to remain calm under pressure. Strong understanding of trauma-informed care and child protection principles is essential.

As a Youth Worker, you will play a vital role in fostering a sense of belonging, healing, and cultural connection among Aboriginal children and young people who have experienced trauma. You will work collaboratively with families, caseworkers, and other professionals to implement individual care plans focused on safety, wellbeing, and development.

The right candidate will be able to provide culturally safe and respectful support, de-escalate conflicts, and manage crisis situations with ease. They will also possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build trusting relationships with children, families, and colleagues.
