Job Role:

We are seeking a Christian Outdoor Educator to join our Training Team as a Lead Guide.

This role involves facilitating and assisting in the development of employees by providing instructional leadership that enables learning through active engagement.

  • Assist in training and evaluating staff in relation to Certificate III activities
  • Develop appropriate training resources
  • Support, challenge and encourage trainees and leaders
  • Act as a resource and guide for trainees and leaders
  • Lead and instruct a range of outdoor education program activities in a professional manner
  • Monitor and minimize risk through the implementation of Youthworks' risk management procedures

The ideal candidate will have qualifications in Outdoor Leadership (Certificate IV), specific activity qualifications in bushwalking, canoeing, and roping, current First Aid and Water Rescue qualifications, Remote or Wilderness First Aid qualification, experience in leading best practice outdoor programs, and ability to infuse the Christian ethos into teaching practice.

Key Responsibilities:

Training and Development:

  • To assist in the development of staff and trainees in line with their individual needs and goals
  • To develop and deliver training programs that meet the needs of staff and trainees

Leadership:

  • To provide guidance and support to trainees and leaders in the delivery of outdoor education programs
  • To lead and instruct groups of participants in outdoor education activities

Risk Management:

  • To ensure that all necessary risk management procedures are followed at all times
  • To identify potential risks and take steps to mitigate them

Qualifications and Experience:

The successful candidate will have:

  • Certificate IV in Outdoor Leadership
  • Specific activity qualifications in bushwalking, canoeing, and roping
  • Current First Aid and Water Rescue qualifications
  • Remote or Wilderness First Aid qualification
  • Experience in leading best practice outdoor programs
  • Able to infuse the Christian ethos into teaching practice
