Job Description:

The role of Environment Project Officer involves developing and implementing programs and projects to support natural resource management outcomes in the Southern Gulf region.

This position will focus on environment and heritage outcomes, property plans, land condition monitoring, education and awareness, adult learning and on-ground works projects across the region.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Manage natural resource management projects including budget management, monitoring and evaluation, and reporting.
  2. Implement natural resource management projects by building and maintaining partnerships with pastoral industry, local governments, community groups, government agencies, project investors, and Traditional Owners.
  3. Identify funding opportunities and develop applications for funding from government, philanthropic, and corporate sources to support natural resource management in the region.
  4. Maintain professional awareness of developments in policy and land management practices and provide advice and analysis on emerging issues and opportunities.
Requirements:
  • Tertiary qualifications and/or equivalent experience in Agricultural or Environmental Science or related disciplines.
  • Sound scientific/technical knowledge of concepts, principles, and procedures relevant to natural resource management.
  • Experience in industry extension principles and practices, and engaging with agricultural and land management sectors.
  • High-level organisational skills to coordinate multiple projects and manage time effectively.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills to communicate complex concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Proven initiative and ability to work autonomously and as an effective team member.
  • Able to develop innovative projects, identify funding opportunities, and set and deliver specific objectives.
About This Role:

This position requires the ability to take initiative and work unsupervised when required. The role requires a sound general knowledge of natural resource management principles, supplemented by specific professional competencies relevant to the Southern Gulf region.

Travel throughout the region is required, including distances on unsealed roads in remote areas. Experience in four-wheel drive operation would be advantageous.
