Job Title:

Pediatric Oncology Specialist

About the Role:

This position offers the opportunity to specialize in bone marrow transplant, leukemia, and lymphoma stream and/or neuro-oncology and solid tumor stream.

As a fellow-level clinician, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality medical services, participating in all clinical duties, and upholding the values of the hospital and health service.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Undertake regular assessment and performance review, actively participate in unit and facility-based educational programs, and meet mandatory training requirements
  • Participate in clinical outreach services to contribute to pediatric oncology services throughout Queensland with consultant supervision
  • Provide inpatient, outpatient, and consultative clinical services in malignant hematology, bone marrow transplant, neuro-oncology, and solid tumor oncology
  • Work as part of the on-call and after-hours rosters including weekends and public holidays
  • Supervise, provide leadership, and perform performance management of junior medical staff
  • Participate in preparation and presentation at pediatric oncology meetings
  • Ensure timely summary documentation through all phases of patient care by completing patient progress notes, correspondence, and reports including discharge planning and discharge summaries
  • Actively participate in training and teaching of junior medical staff, medical students, and other members of the multidisciplinary team including in departmental teaching programs. Undertake skills-based training to support this role.
  • Active participation in continuing professional development including attendance at relevant national and/or international conferences
  • Participate in research and quality assurance programs in areas relevant to pediatric oncology and hematology
