About Our HVAC Design Role

At our organisation, we are seeking a Mechanical Engineer to play a key role in the design and management of HVAC systems.

Job Description

The successful candidate will be responsible for designing commercial and residential HVAC systems that comply with industry standards and client specifications. This will involve performing heat load calculations, duct and pipe sizing, and equipment selection using relevant software tools. They will also prepare mechanical design drawings, specifications, and technical reports. Additionally, they will oversee installation and commissioning of mechanical services, provide technical support to site teams, and liaise with clients, architects, contractors, and suppliers throughout project life cycles.

Responsibilities and Duties
  • Design HVAC systems for commercial and residential projects ensuring compliance with industry standards and client requirements.
  • Perform heat load calculations, duct and pipe sizing, and equipment selection using relevant software tools.
  • Prepare mechanical design drawings, specifications, and technical reports.
  • Oversee installation and commissioning of mechanical services, providing technical support to site teams.
  • Liaise with clients, architects, contractors, and suppliers throughout project life cycles.
  • Conduct inspections and troubleshooting of systems to ensure optimal performance.
  • Assist in preparing tenders, cost estimates, and project documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with Workplace Health & Safety (WHS) and Environmental policies.
  • Stay up-to-date with new technologies, industry developments, and best practices.
Skills and Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering (ANZSCO Skill Level 1).
  • Proficient in AutoCAD, Revit, and duct sizing software.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in HVAC mechanical services design.
  • Excellent knowledge of Australian standards and Building Codes.
  • Strong project management and problem-solving skills.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Eligibility for or membership with Engineers Australia is desirable.
