Job Summary

About The Role

Under close supervision, this role undertakes a competency-based traineeship to develop skills in animal care through formal and on-the-job learning activities. The position assists the Animal Care and Adoption Centre team in providing care and basic animal health to animals housed at the shelter.

The successful candidate will be required to undertake a 2-year Certificate III in Animal Care Services at UQ Skills. They will also need to meet certain criteria, including having a minimum completed Year 10 with passes in English and Mathematics, and a current Working with Children Clearance (Blue Card).

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the Animal Care and Adoption Centre team in providing care and basic animal health to animals housed at the shelter
  • Undertake a competency-based traineeship to develop skills in animal care through formal and on-the-job learning activities
  • Meet the requirements of the Certificate III in Animal Care Services
Requirements
  • Minimum completed Year 10 with passes in English and Mathematics
  • Current Working with Children Clearance (Blue Card)
  • Minimum Queensland C class provisional driver's licence (or ability to obtain)
  • Sound written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively within a team
