Provisional Anaesthesia Fellowship

This position offers the opportunity to provide anaesthesia services under supervision as part of the basic training program of the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists.

As a Provisional Fellow in Anaesthesia, you will be responsible for managing anaesthesia for common medical conditions of high complexity and optimising outcomes for patients through appropriate consultation.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Delivering anaesthesia, perioperative care and pain management services inside and outside the operating rooms at Blacktown and Mount Druitt Hospital and rotating hospitals.
  • Participating as a multidisciplinary team member across key areas of anaesthetics, including anaesthesia and sedation, regional anaesthesia, airway management, pain medicine, perioperative medicine, resuscitation, trauma and crisis management, obstetric anaesthesia and teaching and supervision.
  • Working collaboratively within multi-disciplinary teams, sharing information internally and externally with key persons or services.

Requirements:

  • MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the medical board of Australia in an appropriate registration category.
  • Completed a minimum of three postgraduate years and some experience in Anaesthesia and Critical Care.
  • Able to work in Anaesthesia under supervision and to work weekends and after-hours in the specialty area.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritise workloads and display a flexible approach to meet changing situations in a demanding and unpredictable clinical environment.

The successful applicant will have excellent clinical skills, judgement and expertise, as well as adept verbal, written and interpersonal skills. They will also demonstrate a commitment to participating in training and development opportunities to further develop skills and knowledge in the area of anaesthesia and a demonstrated interest in clinical audit or research.
