Welding Quality Manager

A career opportunity has arisen for a skilled Welding Quality Manager to join our team.

Job Description

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the highest quality standards in welding operations. This includes:

  • Conducting visual inspections (VI) of welds to ensure compliance with relevant codes and standards.
  • Managing welder qualifications, requalification processes, and maintaining records of work completed.
  • Monitoring welding processes, consumables, and equipment to ensure adherence to Work Procedure Specifications (WPS).
  • Recording welding activities in our quality control database and project work packs.
  • Mentoring and developing welding staff to improve skills and reduce defects.
  • Liaising with supervisors and inspectors to ensure smooth handovers and efficient workflows.
Required Skills and Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • A trade qualification in welding or fabrication.
  • Preferably an AS1796 Welding Supervisor Certificate 10 or equivalent inspector certification.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in a similar role within a pressure vessel workshop plus 5 years' trade experience.
  • Strong knowledge of relevant AS and ASME welding codes and Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) requirements.
  • Proven experience across manual welding processes and automated systems.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills, with the ability to lead and mentor under pressure.
