Job Overview

A historic and transformative capability is being developed by Australia. The acquisition of conventionally-armed, nuclear-powered submarines will mark a significant milestone in the nation's defense capabilities.

The Optimal Pathway announced on 14 March 2023, aims to deliver a world-class capability that will enhance Australia's capacity to deter conflict and support security, peace, and economic prosperity in the Indo-Pacific region.

This game-changing capability presents an exciting opportunity for dedicated and committed leaders to lead, develop, and shape the Australian Nuclear-Powered Submarine (NPS) Program.

Role and Responsibilities

As a Program Executive Officer, you will be accountable for the delivery of Australia's nuclear-powered submarine capability. This includes the acquisition of Virginia Class and build of SSN-AUKUS platforms, as well as the delivery of sustainment and supporting systems.

Providing enterprise-level leadership across the NPS program, you will align program objectives with strategic government and defence priorities. Working closely with national and industry stakeholders, you will ensure program execution meets Australia's security, safety, regulatory, and capability requirements.

Reporting directly to the Director-General of the ASA, this senior leadership role will be pivotal in guiding the most complex and consequential Defence program Australia has ever undertaken.
