Director of Events in Gold Coast

This is an exceptional opportunity to join the dynamic Events team at The Star Gold Coast, a world-class resort that offers an unparalleled guest experience. As Director of Events, you will play a key role in driving the success of our Events team, working closely with the General Manager Food & Beverage, Events to achieve business objectives.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the events operational teams in making growth-focused decisions that balance the needs of all stakeholders and the business.
- Demonstrate passion for the business and achieving positive results for The Star Gold Coast.
- Empower team members to try new things, actively communicate the benefits of continuous improvement for the business, and advocate for change.
- Motivate others and constructively challenge how things are done to ensure the best outcome is achieved.
- Actively manage the talent in your team to motivate and recognize high performance and coach others to develop into high performers.
- Hold others accountable for their performance and delivering on set goals.
- Take ownership of the role, including communications and relationships with key stakeholders, customers, and the broader business.
- Create a team environment where people take accountability for their behavior and commitments.
- Ensure high standards of compliance and workplace safety are embedded in all practices and processes.
- Extensive Events or Food & Beverage industry experience in senior leadership roles.
- Previous senior management experience in a Director or equivalent leadership role in a large integrated resort or high-volume environment.
- Degree or tertiary qualification in either Hospitality, Retail, Business, or equivalent.
- Advanced knowledge of the principles and practices within the Events and Hospitality profession.
- Experience in leading large professional hospitality teams in a 5-star environment with revenue turnovers in excess of $20m+ per annum.
- Demonstrated ability in planning and resourcing people and products with strong commercial acumen in labor management and operational expenditure.
- Provide strategic direction and support to the department to ensure an integrated system of employee relations and performance while ensuring organizational objectives are prevalent in any new initiatives.
- Understanding of relevant statutory and reporting requirements.
- Strong leadership and management skills.
