Job Description:

The Groundsperson will be responsible for maintaining the course, training tracks and grounds at racecourses to ensure they are presented in the best possible condition.

Whilst predominantly based at Canterbury Park Racecourse, the Groundsperson may be rostered to perform work on occasion at other Club sites. The role requires general maintenance work including labouring, cleaning, tracks, gardens and maintenance instructions.

The successful candidate will also operate plant equipment such as tractors, mowers, front end loader forklift, power sweepers, power harrows, brush cutters, hedgers, push mowers and general spray operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct routine maintenance of turf, synthetic, artificial and other surfaces
Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will need to have a demonstrated experience in a similar role, preferably in turf management. You should also have general operational and mechanical maintenance skills.

Appropriate licences to operate specialist machinery such as a manual vehicle, front end loader and forklifts are required. Experience in operating plant and equipment including Bobcat, Grader and Excavator would be desirable.

A sound knowledge and practical experience of handling and spraying chemicals is also necessary.

You will also need to have a demonstrable ability to work independently and as part of a team. Sound verbal and interpersonal communication skills are essential, as well as sound literacy and numeracy skills.
