About the Opportunity

Hitachi Construction Machinery is currently seeking a trade qualified Diesel Mechanic to join our Workshop team as our Leading Hand in Somerton. This role involves leading a highly skilled workshop crew performing assembly, maintenance, and repairs on various construction equipment.

The Role

This position reports to the Branch Co-ordinator and entails leading a team of Workshop Technicians to meet and exceed service expectations. Key responsibilities include:

  • Liaising with technical support staff and coordinating diagnostic, maintenance, and repair work
  • Maintaining work schedules to ensure efficient utilization of equipment and resources
  • Driving efficiency within the team to meet tight deadlines while ensuring employees comply with all WHS responsibilities and promoting a safety-first culture
  • Be responsible for the day-to-day activities of workshop personnel and ensure labour is used effectively
  • Liaise with stakeholders regarding machine performance, product quality, and warranty

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Previous experience leading a team to achieve and exceed set goals
  • Australian (or Australian recognised) diesel or mobile plant trade qualifications
  • A strong focus on safety, ensuring HCA's Safety Culture is embraced and promoted
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills, with the ability to build long-term relationships
  • The ability to navigate complex technical issues and deliver high-quality outcomes in repair and maintenance services

About You

We are seeking an experienced Diesel Mechanic with leadership skills to drive efficiency and success within our Workshop team. As our ideal candidate, you will possess a strong understanding of Hitachi mining and construction equipment, along with excellent technical knowledge and problem-solving abilities.
