Health, Safety, Security and Environmental Advisor: A Strategic Role at Stantec

We are seeking a Health, Safety, Security and Environmental Advisor to support Stantec's Health and Safety culture in our New South Wales and Australian Capital Territory business centres and associated projects.
Key Responsibilities- Assist the APAC HSSE Manager in developing the HSSE plan for offices, operations, and projects.
- Support office and operational staff in using and being compliant with Stantec's HSSE systems, programs, documents, and plans.
- Assist with project pre-job HSSE planning and hazard assessments.
- Conduct project and site visits, field assessments, audits, planned job observations, and worksite inspections in conjunction with relevant project management.
- Implement HSSE initiatives within the assigned region, aiming for continuous improvement of our HSSE culture.
- Provide HSSE advice and direction to Office Safety and Environment Coordinators (OSECs) and office/operational staff using the Stantec HSSE system.
- Support execution of the HSSE Incident Management System.
- Support incident management and reporting, ensuring follow-up is completed and documented as required.
- Conduct investigations as requested by the APAC HSSE Manager.
- Assist in developing lessons learned and action implementation.
- Support HSSE aspects of the subcontractor management program, as needed.
- Assist with certification audits and management program, when required.
- Organize events to promote Health and Safety, as agreed.
- Support Business Development and Proposals Teams to ensure adequate HSSE input to proposal activities.
- Strong client-service focus with a solution-focused mindset.
- Relevant qualifications and/or experience in Occupational Health & Safety.
- Ideal experience of at least 3 years in a similar role.
- Root Cause Investigation (ICAM, TapRoot, etc.) qualification and/or relevant experience.
- Strong communications skills, both written and verbal, along with excellent interpersonal and organizational abilities, coupled with an ability to work in a team environment.
- Strong leadership skills and the capability to assess priorities and work independently.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office, with the ability to learn new systems easily.
This role will require an element of flexibility to travel to offices within the New South Wales and Australian Capital Territory geographical area.
