Cyber Security Leader Position

This is a full-time teaching and research position at the School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading teaching and research in software engineering and/or cyber security within our Cyber Security and Software Engineering discipline.
- Teaching responsibilities include developing and delivering courses, engaging in curriculum design, coordinating courses, assessing students, providing academic counselling, and adhering to university teaching rules.
- Research responsibilities involve maintaining a strong record of high-impact research as lead contributor in top-tier international journals and disciplinary publications. Initiating and leading competitive research funding applications as chief investigator, transferring research outcomes to end users, including commercialisation of UQ intellectual property, contributing to discipline service through editorial board or leadership positions, shaping strategic research agendas, representing the discipline in leading academic forums, and utilising best practice research methodologies.
- Supervision and Researcher Development responsibilities include supervising students, recruiting and managing employees, providing performance feedback and training, resolving conflicts, and ensuring correct remuneration and benefits.
- Citizenship and Service responsibilities include developing partnerships, demonstrating leadership through mentoring, engaging in internal service roles and committees, performing administrative functions, providing support to colleagues, and upholding university values.
The ideal candidate will have a PhD in Software Engineering and/or Cyber Security, a sustained record of excellence in teaching and research, international recognition and a strong publication profile, proven success in securing and managing significant research funding, experience in leading research teams and mentoring junior academics, a commitment to inclusive education and student success, expertise in curriculum design and pedagogical innovation, and a demonstrated record of leadership in service and engagement.
About You- Applicants should have the ability to teach into areas such as introductory and intermediate programming courses, cyber security systems at the introductory, intermediate or advanced undergraduate level, cyber security individual capstone projects and research methods, software engineering topics at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, and software engineering or cyber security team projects at the introductory or intermediate undergraduate level.
