Role Overview

The primary objective of this position is to provide expert therapeutic counseling services to individuals, families, and significant others in order to mitigate the negative consequences of problem gambling.

As a skilled counselor, you will offer a comprehensive therapeutic service that raises awareness about problem gambling issues within the community and promotes services through various promotional and educational activities. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Delivering face-to-face, phone, and digital counseling sessions as per funding requirements
  • Developing and leading psycho-educational and gambling-related group programs
  • Participating actively in local community events to enhance GambleAware's presence
  • Providing outreach support to minimize barriers to service access
Essential Requirements

To be successful in this role, you must possess:

  • A relevant tertiary qualification in counseling or psychology, or an equivalent qualification
  • Experience and training in addiction and/or gambling counseling
  • Demonstrated expertise in a range of therapeutic approaches when working with individuals, couples, and families
  • Membership of a professional association (e.g., APS, PACFA)
  • Previous experience in delivering community education programs
  • Proven ability to provide counseling via face-to-face and online platforms
  • A valid NSW driver's license
