Disaster Recovery Specialist

This role is ideal for an experienced professional who has a strong background in disaster recovery and program management.

We are seeking a highly skilled individual to join our team as a Disaster Recovery Specialist. The successful candidate will have experience leading small teams and delivering disaster recovery programs with a resilience-building and community development approach.

  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Review and develop disaster recovery policies and strategies to align with sector best practices and promote Council's leadership in the field.
  • Work with colleagues to integrate community engagement and capacity-building activities into resilience-building programs.
  • Raise awareness and assist local government partners in prioritising critical objectives outlined in the Recovery Sub Plan.
  • Develop and sustain the Council's recovery capability.
  • Provide analysis and expert advice to Moreton Bay Local Disaster Management and Recovery Groups.
About You

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Excellent people and relationship management skills to work with stakeholders from all levels of government, non-government organisations, support services and residents.
  • Exceptional presentation and communication skills to empower disaster preparedness.
  • Detailed knowledge of the Queensland Disaster Management Arrangements (QDMA) and other relevant statutory requirements.
