About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Child Support Specialist to join our team in Gosford NSW. This is an exciting opportunity for someone to make a real difference in the lives of families facing challenges.

As a Child Support Specialist, you will be responsible for assessing referrals, coordinating therapeutic family support, and assisting parents and children in creating a safe and nurturing home environment.

Your work will involve conducting intake and assessments for families entering the program, providing home visits and assistance with achieving goals through advocacy, life skills training, child development support, parenting education, routines and budgeting.

You will also deliver evidence-based parenting programs, help families build social connections within their local communities, and provide culturally sensitive and strengths-based support to families in all aspects of service delivery.

To succeed in this role, you will have:

  • Tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology, or a related field, with at least two years of experience working with at-risk children and families.
  • Strong skills in risk assessment, case management, and building trust with families in crisis.
  • A strong understanding of early intervention principles and child protection issues.
  • Experience working with diverse groups, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and culturally and linguistically diverse families.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to assess needs, strengths and potential risks.
